Altar Servers

Altar-Server2Altar Servers play an integral role in the celebration of the Mass by assisting the Priest and carrying out various functions during Mass. These functions can include carrying the processional cross, setting the Altar in preparation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, holding the book for the Priest, preparing the sensor, or other functions within the Mass.

Altar servers can be men or women, boys or girls. They must be of an age where they have already received the Sacraments of Initiation.

There is specific training for altar servers which will prepare them for their ministry.

If you are interested in becoming and altar server or you have a child who is interested, please contact our Parish Life Coordinator, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.through the Parish office at 207-364-4556.

Readers

ReaderReaders are just one of the different ministries that assist in the celebration of the Mass. They contribute to the worship of the community and fulfill the responsibility that comes with Baptism by proclaiming the Word of God to the congregation in the Old Testament and Epistle readings.

Special training is required to assist ministers in understanding their specific roles and responsibilities. These trainings are ongoing and are held at either St. Athanasius & St. John's Church or Our Lady of the Snows.

Beyond the training, Readers are provided with the materials necessary to prepare themselves for proclaiming God's Word.

If you are interested in becoming a Reader for either church, please contact our Parish Life Coordinator, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.through the Parish office at 207-364-4556.
