This dynamic of an encounter that demands a response can be seen in almost every Gospel story. It’s fundamental. The Catholic author and speaker Matthew Kelly calls it the “Jesus Question.” He says, “Agree with him or disagree with him. Glorify him or vilify him. Follow him or reject him. About the only thing you cannot do when it comes to Jesus is ignore him… You can try and ignore it, or dodge it, or dismiss it, but in the end, everybody has to answer the Jesus question.”
