Browsing Following Jesus In The Foothills

An Invitation

As the year 2016 drew to a close it seemed people couldn’t wait for it to end. Many were carrying on like it was the worst year ever. We lost cultural icons. There is a horrific civil war in Syria. We had a very contentious US Presidential Election and the country is still deeply divided. Perhaps it is easier for us to focus on all these things exterior to ourselves than it is for us to recognize and accept the profound chaos that exists in our own lives, in our relationships with family and friends, in our hearts and desires, in the lives we lead. The chaos cries out for order, for peace.

Recently we celebrated Christmas and remembered the birth of the Prince of Peace. Last week we asked the question, “How well do you know Jesus?” Hopefully this week we have a better appreciation for the fact that the chaos of our world is partly due to the fact that so many people do not yet know Jesus, the Prince of Peace, the Holy Savior. Yet people are searching. They know something isn’t right. They want some kind of resolution. They hunger for peace and justice. They want something. But we know the answer is someone. It is our challenge to point them, like John the Baptist, to Jesus.
